Applying for Permanent Residency (PR) is the biggest step for any migrant whose ultimate goal is to stay in Australia long term. The Skilled Nominated Visa subclass 190 has the additional complexity of requiring a state or territory to nominate you. Each state will have their own occupation list and requirements.Â
Visa Jobs has partnered with experienced MARA Registered Migration Agents who will guide you through every step of the process from explaining the 190 visa requirements, calculating your point score, seeing which states are an option, to lodging your EOI and visa application. Â
The Skilled Nominated 190 visa is a very popular visa for skilled workers wanting to migrate to Australia. Like the 189 Visa, it is a permanent visa, allowing visa holders to stay in Australia indefinitely. The main difference between these two visas is that for a 190 Visa you must be nominated by an Australian state or territory government. This is not a requirement for the 189 visa.
Like the 189 and 491 visas, the Skilled Nominated 190 visa is a points tested visa, which means in order to be eligible you will need to score the minimum pass mark, which is currently 65 points. The pass mark could increase for certain occupations if there are a large number of high-quality applicants. States and Territories may require a higher point score so make sure you check their current requirements as well.
In addition to passing the points test, your occupation must be on the relevant Skilled Occupation List. It must also be on one of the state or territory occupation lists. Each Australian State and territory will publish a list of occupations that they struggle to find skilled workers for, in their region. Not only will the occupation list vary for each state or territory but specific requirements such as your level of English, experience or skills may also vary. It’s recommended to check the occupation lists and requirements for each state before submitting your Expression of interest (EOI).
When you submit your EOI through SkillsSelect, your point score will be calculated. As long as you pass the points test, state and territory government agencies will view your EOI and point score. They will then decide if they wish to invite you to apply and nominate you. They generally have an allocated number of invitations they can issue per month or period. Invitations are generally allocate according to occupations they have skill shortages for. Applicants with the highest point score are then invited to apply for the visa.
When applying for a Skilled Nominated 190 Visa you can include dependent family members in your visa application either at the time of lodgement or once approved. Applying for this visa can be lodged whilst you are onshore in Australia or if you are offshore.
As with all Australian visas, when lodging your visa application, you must prove that you meet all of the 190 visa requirements. The 190 visa requirements include:
