Pier 33 is a vibrant waterfront venue known for its relaxed coastal atmosphere, exceptional service, and premium food and beverage offerings. We’re looking for a hands-on, motivated Bar Manager to lead, train, and develop our bar team — ensuring consistent, high-quality, and speedy service in a dynamic environment that regularly serves 500+ cocktails per shift.
About the Role
As Bar Manager, you’ll take ownership of all bar operations — from staff leadership and training to maintaining high standards of quality, efficiency, and presentation. You’ll drive team culture, professionalism, and continuous improvement, with a strong focus on cost control (COGS), labour management, and enhancing the overall guest experience.
Experience in vertical spirits programs, preparation for busy service periods, and driving key performance outcomes is highly valued.
Weekly KPIs will form part of the employment agreement.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Training: Recruit, mentor, and train bar staff to deliver exceptional service and uphold Pier 33’s standards.
Quality Control: Maintain consistency in drink preparation, presentation, and customer experience while improving bar gross profit.
Operational Excellence: Manage bar systems, POS workflows, and service flow to ensure fast, seamless service during peak times (a key focus of this role).
Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement strategies to enhance efficiency, product offerings, and staff development.
Collaboration: Work closely with the Venue Manager, kitchen, and events teams to ensure smooth daily operations.
Compliance: Maintain RSA, hygiene, and safety standards in full accordance with regulations.
Venue Scope: Oversee three standalone bars within the Pier 33 venue.
About You
Minimum 3 years’ experience in bar or venue management within a high-volume or premium hospitality environment.
A passion for hospitality, leading from the front with a hands-on, performance-driven approach.
Strong training, coaching, and team development skills.
Exceptional attention to detail with a drive for improvement and innovation.
Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving abilities.

Reporting directly to the General Manager and Operations Manager, the Bar Manager will work alongside the Restaurant, Weddings, and Functions teams to deliver exceptional service across multiple departments — from daily dining to large events and weddings.
Employment Details
Venue Closed: Monday and Tuesday
Work Days: Thursday – Sunday (Full-time, 40 hours per week)
Typical Hours: 11:30 am – 10:00 pm
Remuneration: Competitive and based on experience.
Visa Sponsorship: Available for the right candidate through our in-house immigration department.
