Position: Sous Chef

About the Role:
As a Sous Chef, you will assist the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food production, and maintaining standards in line with health and safety regulations.
Responsibilities:
Assist in planning and directing food preparation in the kitchen.
Supervise and coordinate the activities of kitchen staff, ensuring efficient workflow.
Ensure consistency in presentation and quality of dishes.
Support the Head Chef in menu development, costing, and inventory management.
Monitor food stock and place orders as needed.
Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive team environment.
Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment, adhering to all health and safety standards.
Requirements:
At least a Certificate IV in commercial cookery or above
Minimum of 2 years of proven experience as a Sous Chef
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
Knowledge of kitchen operations, including stock control, ordering, and food safety regulations.
Certifications in Food Safety and Hygiene are preferred.

A valid English language certificate is needed, with an overall IELTS score of at least 5.5 and no individual section scoring less than 5.0.
Depending on where you are placed or your nationality, you may need to complete a skill assessment from either TRA or VETASSESS, the relevant Australian skill assessing authorities.
