Aeroo Innovations is a rapidly growing Australian drone technology company developing high-performance drones for fishing, adventure, industrial, and delivery applications. We design, engineer, assemble, and test our drone systems in-house, with a growing international presence in Australia, New Zealand, and the USA.
We're now seeking a Specialist Drone Engineer to support our advanced manufacturing and repair operations in Sydney, working on highly customized multirotor platforms and payload systems.
About the Role
This is a highly technical, hands-on role focused on the repair, calibration, and technical refinement of custom UAV systems developed and supported by Aeroo. The successful candidate will work directly with our engineering and customer experience teams to deliver fast, reliable technical resolutions and support R&D of new models.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair flight-critical drone systems (ESCs, motors, payloads, IMUs, GPS, and camera gimbals)
Calibrate and test autonomous multirotor systems, including flight tuning (PID/ESC-level) and failsafe functions
Integrate custom electronic components, firmware, and payloads into existing drone platforms
Execute technical acceptance testing and QC processes across multiple drone SKUs
Maintain internal repair logs, diagnostics reports, and component traceability
Assist with prototype iteration and feedback cycles alongside product engineers
Contribute to SOP and documentation development for technical workflows
Support internal training and cross-functional collaboration with customer support and logistics teams
Required Skills and Experience
2+ years hands-on experience in drone engineering, electronics repair, or UAV integration
Deep understanding of flight controllers, brushless motors, power distribution boards, and LiPo safety
Demonstrated experience soldering and troubleshooting at component level
Proficiency with tools such as Betaflight, QGroundControl, DJI Assistant, or similar
Knowledge of firmware flashing, calibration routines, and failsafe configurations
Ability to read and interpret schematics, block diagrams, and build documentation
Strong communication skills and ability to document technical processes
Preferred Qualifications
Diploma or degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, Robotics, Aerospace, or a closely related field
(or equivalent industry experience working in a technical UAV environment)
Prior experience working in a drone manufacturing or high-performance drone repair setting
