We have been proudly caring for South Australians since 1900. Our Adelaide Hospital, in the heart of the city, opened in 2020, and is the largest private hospital in the state. The hospital specialises in acute medical and surgical care, and is one of the largest providers of orthopaedic, cardiac, and neurosurgical services. The Level III ICU has 20 beds with state of the art facilitates to support complex surgical and medical cases. Our North Adelaide Hospital was one of the first hospitals in Adelaide, and now features a large maternity wing, 8 operating theatres, day surgery, a medical ward, a oncology ward with day case chemotherapy centre and Level II Intensive Care Unit with 8 beds.
About the role
We are seeking ICU Registrars to provide onsite 24/7 medical care, assessment and coordination of patients within the ICU/HDU. If successful, you will work between the two sites as required and agreed. Further your career in these advanced and well-equipped ICUs and be part of a highly effective team supported by Senior Intensivists and experienced ICU nurses.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the provision of critical care to patients within Intensive Care Units, including providing clinical advice and support to practitioners for patients
- Efficient management of admissions and discharges to Intensive Care in coordination with the in-charge nurse when on duty
- Participation in the Intensive Care roster including out-of-hour’s roster commitments
What you bring
- Demonstrated competence and experience in providing high quality, compassionate medical care within an Intensive Care Unit
- Demonstrated ability to effectively lead the multidisciplinary team whilst demonstrating excellent verbal and written communication skills and proficiency in periods of high activity.
- Commitment to teaching and supervision of students, trainees and staff including medical, nursing and allied health.
- Appropriate qualifications and AHPRA registration, or eligible for full AHPRA registration within 12 months
- PGY3 or above, with a minimum of 6 months’ experience within ICU and 12 months of anaesthetics training prior to joining our team.
- International medical graduate applicants are welcomed from Competent Authorities countries and other countries with similar healthcare system. Subject to appropriate AHPRA registration pathway.
