About the opportunity
A vacancy exists for an enthusiastic and experienced Scientific Officer in the Cytology section of our hospital. This laboratory provides a full Anatomical Pathology service to several hospitals within the South West Sydney Local Health District including Liverpool, Fairfield, Campbelltown, Bankstown, Camden and Bowral hospitals.
This position is key to the continued provision of our Anatomical pathology services, and as such will required to work within a rotating 24/7 roster/on call with other scientific/technical staff. You will have a demonstrated knowledge and experience in: routine diagnostic Cytology Laboratory with demonstrable skills in the preparation and reporting of Rapid On Site Evaluation (ROSE) of Fine Needle aspirate biopsies, including EBUS and EUS (or willingness to learn),use of Laboratory Information Systems, Patient Systems and Quality Control Systems and computer programs such as Microsoft Office suite, preparation of materials and the maintenance of equipment in line with established laboratory processes, procedures and protocols will also be undertaken. CT ASC qualification and a NSW Drivers License is also required.
You will be working in the Cytology section of the Anatomical Pathology Department located at the Liverpool Hospital Campus. At times you will also attend Cytology procedures at the Bankstown and Campbelltown Hospitals.
Our Pathology department would consider visa sponsorship for candidates with relevant experience and qualifications. International qualifications are required to be assessed as equivalent to an Australian qualification from a recognised tertiary institution.

Responsible for delivering a range of operational laboratory activities including the coordination and provisions of scientific and technical training and the ongoing review, development and quality management of laboratory practices to ensure compliance with operational standards and procedures, quality standards and continual process improvement.
