About the Role
A cozy and vibrant café. We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented Cook to join our dynamic team. If you have a passion for preparing delicious meals with fresh, high-quality ingredients, this full-time role is for you. You will work in a fast-paced kitchen environment, delivering mouth-watering dishes with excellent presentation, while ensuring smooth and efficient kitchen operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes from the diverse menu, ensuring consistency, quality, and taste in every dish.
- Oversee smooth kitchen operations, especially during peak hours, while maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene.
- Assist with inventory management, ordering, and stock replenishment, ensuring the kitchen is always well-stocked.
- Train and supervise kitchen staff and apprentices, fostering teamwork and ensuring high-quality standards.
- Adhere to procedures and regulations, particularly regarding cleanliness, food handling, and workplace health and safety.
- Store food in temperature-controlled facilities, ensuring proper food storage methods to maintain safety and freshness.
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless communication and enhance the customer dining experience.
- Assist with menu planning, estimating food requirements for daily service based on customer needs and seasonality.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in kitchen operations, implementing changes to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
- Ensure kitchen cleanliness, including maintaining equipment and cleaning workstations to meet health and safety standards.
- Create, present, and serve meals in an aesthetically pleasing manner that enhances the dining experience and encourages customer enjoyment.
- Experiment with new recipes and cooking techniques, contributing fresh ideas to the menu and enhancing culinary offerings.
- Monitor food quality and presentation before it leaves the kitchen, ensuring every dish meets the restaurant's standards.
- Handle customer requests and special dietary needs, ensuring that all guests are satisfied with their meal experience.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Cook or Chef, preferably in a café or restaurant setting.
- Strong understanding of food preparation, cooking techniques, and presentation.
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or above qualification.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, able to work efficiently under pressure.
