About the Role
In collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, the Physiotherapist supports residents to maintain optimal functional abilities to maximize independence and quality of life.
The functions of this position include the delivery of quality interventions with residents, including assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating physiotherapy treatments and programs for individual residents in the following core areas of professional practice:
- Mobility
- Fall and Injury Risk Management
- Chronic Disease Management
- Pain Management
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supports a multi-disciplinary team approach that prioritizes the physical and emotional wellbeing of individual residents across the aged care facility. This includes contributing to case conferences.
- Provides leadership, guidance and clinical supervision to the Lifestyle Coordinator and Therapy and Leisure Partners, ensuring needs of the resident are met in accordance with their care plans, including therapeutic objectives.
- Ensures appropriate equipment is available for use by allied health staff and contributes to the development of the yearly Physiotherapy budget, in consultation with the Manager Residential Care.
- Completes comprehensive occupational therapy assessments and regular reviews to identify residents’ physical, social and emotional needs.
- Actively builds trusting relationships with individual residents that are based on dignity and respect to optimise cooperation, communicating in a manner that is appropriate to each individual’s strengths and limitations
Essential Skills, Attributes and Experience
- Current registration with AHPRA as a Physiotherapist
- An understanding and appreciation of contemporary Physiotherapy practice and issues in aged care
- An ability to relate to older people with empathy, understanding and affording dignity and respect
- An ability to collaborate, negotiate and contribute toward multi-disciplinary team approach to care planning and delivery
- Demonstrated ability to complete busy workload and respond to changing priorities

Pay: $60,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
