About Us
Our company is a family owned business located on the stunning East coast of Tasmania, nestled in the heart of Freycinet National Park. We operate seven days a week, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. As we look to expand our offering, we invite applications for the position of Head Chef.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all kitchen operations, ensuring professionalism and efficiency.
- Manage ordering and stock control, menu creation, costing, and design.
- Develop and coach kitchen staff, including training apprentices.
- Create innovative menus with a focus on quality, presentation and the use of fresh seasonal local produce.
- Negotiate with suppliers to source high-quality ingredients at competitive prices.
- Design event and function menus, including for weddings and special occasions.
- Achieve targets for food and labour costs while maintaining high standards.
- Maintain OHS standards, ensuring cleanliness and organization in all kitchen and storage areas.
- Foster a team-oriented environment, encouraging open feedback and continuous improvement and development.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role.
- Completed a trade apprenticeship and hold at least a Certificate III in Cookery or Culinary Skills.
- Exceptional leadership skills with a track record of motivating and developing teams.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience in sourcing quality produce.
- A modern and creative approach to cooking with attention to detail.
- A reliable, honest, and hardworking attitude with an approachable demeanor.
Salary:
The salary package is negotiable and will be commensurate with the applicant’s skills and experience.
