Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Primary Teacher to join our team at a Special Developmental School (SDS) in Wheelers Hill, starting in January (Term 1) for an ongoing role. Sponsorship is available for candidates requiring a visa. In this position, you will deliver tailored educational programs to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring an inclusive and supportive learning experience for each child. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to adapt lessons to meet individual educational plans (IEPs). Key responsibilities include developing lesson plans, assessing student progress, and collaborating with support staff, parents, and specialists to create a nurturing educational environment. While experience in special education is not essential, a commitment to fostering student growth and independence is essential. Key Duties:
Building Supportive Relationships: Build strong, supportive relationships with students, providing the necessary emotional and social support to foster their confidence and independence.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with teaching assistants and specialists to support student needs and communicate regularly with parents about their child's progress and any concerns.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment, implementing behaviour management strategies to support positive student behaviour.
- Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional learning to improve teaching practices, attending relevant training sessions and workshops to stay informed about best practices in special education.
- Lesson Planning and Delivery: Create and adapt individualized lesson plans to meet diverse student needs, using varied teaching methods to cater to different learning styles.
Skills & Experience:
- Completed relevant Qualifications in Education
- Maintain a valid and up-to-date VIT registration
- Have unrestricted working rights in Australia
- Demonstrate previous experience as a Teacher - Graduates are welcome to apply too!
- Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).
