About the opportunity
We are currently seeking a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer (Water Engineering) to join our Faculty of Science and Engineering to lead and conduct undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, with a focus on water engineering and flood/hydrodynamic modelling in the civil engineering context. Your core responsibilities will include:
- Innovate and enhance curriculum development and contribute to other Faculty programs as required.
- Contribute to the Faculty’s research profile through publications, grant applications and success, and supervision of higher degree research students.
- Engage in service and community activities to support and promote the University and the Faculty’s priorities.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, promoting engagement across disciplines and industries.
About you
We are seeking applications from early to mid-year career academics with a growing profile in teaching and research within the discipline area of water engineering.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A PhD related to Water Engineering, with experience in professional engineering practice and a particular emphasis on flood and hydrodynamic modelling is essential.
- A demonstrated record of innovation and excellence in teaching, with experience in blended and online environments and digital content delivery.
- Experience in curriculum design, development, and evaluation, with a strong understanding of Engineers Australia accreditation processes (desirable).
- Strong collaborative skills enabling you to supervise postgraduate research students or projects, with evidence of contributions to research partnerships, professional bodies, and community engagement.
- A track record of research excellence, with publications in high-quality journals, research funding, and experience supervising honours/higher degree research students, ideally in the area of hydrodynamic/flood modelling.
Salary and benefits

- Full-time, continuing (permanent)
- Academic Level C or B, commensurate with qualifications, skills and experience.Academic Level C. The base salary ranges from $134,848 - $155,046 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $181,403.
- Academic Level B. The base salary ranges from $110,611 - $130,814 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $153,052.
