About the Role
The Lecturer (Precision Agriculture & Remote Sensing) will deliver high-quality teaching and research within the Faculty of Science, focusing on precision agriculture and remote sensing. This role involves coordinating and teaching undergraduate and postgraduate subjects, contributing to leadership and service across our University and the broader community. The Lecturer will also develop collaborative, applied research projects with internal and external partners.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Design and develop curriculum in areas of precision agriculture and remote sensing that complement and build on the existing strengths of the School.
- Preparation and delivery of lectures, tutorials and seminars as appropriate and in line with Faculty of Science minimum thresholds for teaching satisfaction.
- In collaboration with Senior Academic staff conduct internationally competitive research, resulting in publications in high-impact journals
- Contribute to and publish academic papers and other scholarly outputs to a high academic standard in accordance with the research expectations of our university.
- Actively participate in School meetings and contribute to planning activities or committee work to support capacity building in the areas of agriculture, environmental sciences, precision agriculture and remote sensing.
Who We Are Looking For
You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enabling you to build positive relationships with staff, collaborators, and students. Additionally, you bring experience in developing engaging teaching programs in precision agriculture and remote sensing, along with a proven aptitude for independent research and a strong publication record relative to your experience.
You will also have:
- Completion of a PhD in precision agriculture, remote sensing or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in precision agriculture, remote sensing, airborne hyperspectral, multispectral and thermal sensors for agricultural applications.
- Demonstrated experience, relative to opportunity, in developing engaging undergraduate and graduate teaching programs related to precision agriculture and remote sensing.
- Experience leading grant applications for programs, including but not limited to, the Australian Research Council (ARC) and other funding schemes.
This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
