A full-time Indian tandoor and curry chef position is available. The job applicant must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in Indian cuisine, along with the right qualifications. An award-winning wage package of $75,000–$80,000 (depending on experience) will be provided to the candidate.
Requirements:
- Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery with at least 2 years of experience.
- Prepare a wide range of meals from the menu, with a focus on Indian cuisine.
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food before use.
- Contribute to improving the menu list, kitchen facility, and business of the restaurant.
- Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and a food preparation checklist.
- Prepare meat and non-vegetarian dishes and salads.
- Prepare Indian dishes.
- Undertake portion control practices, arrange, and garnish food according to the creative ethos of the kitchen.
- Store food in temperature-controlled facilities.
- Provide input in the creation of seasonal menus and new receipes.
- Season and cook food according to receipes or your own experience and knowledge.
- Help with stock management including, ordering, rotation, and wastage control.
- Ensure wastage is kept to a minimum.
- Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen.
Skills:
- Skilled in preparing, seasoning, and cooking food according to receipes.
- Understanding of food safety and OHS requirements.
- In-depth knowledge of Indian cuisine.
