Your role:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Estimating Manager will assume a hands-on position pricing a range of civil construction infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have experience across bulk earthworks and concrete works projects.
The successful candidate will have leadership capability and be empowered to build and manage a high performing team, as well as the technical expertise to provide first class estimation and contract management capabilities.
Your responsibilities:
- Produce detailed cost estimates
- Working and leading the tenders' team to build successful tender submissions
- Provide tender construction schedules using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project
- Create Project Execution methodologies that align with the cost estimate and construction schedule
- Overseeing the pre-contracts gate process end to end
- Build, mentor and lead the tenders team
- Completing material take offs
- Prepare and price estimates in their entirety and developing detailed project budgets
- Peer reviewing estimates to ensure accuracy
- Preparing risk and opportunity analysis prior to tendering
- Preparing tender assumptions, clarifications, and queries
- Assist with negotiating contracts and agreements
- Work in collaboration with operational subject matter experts to ensure tenders manage and consider risks appropriately
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with all key stakeholders
- Efficiently performing all stages of an estimate including methodology, estimate organisation, take-off, pricing, review, and closeout
- Facilitate project handover including cost coding and variation pricing
About you:
- Demonstrated experience in a similar Senior Estimating role within the Civil Construction industry with exposure to self perform Civil tenders including Earthworks/ Concrete/ FRP / NPI/ Roadworks/Drainage
- Formal tertiary educations in QS, Civil Engineering, Project Management, Contracts Management or similar - Desirable
- A minimum of 10 years estimating experience
- Understanding of the National Code of Practice, procurement and construction methodology
- Experience with tenders on large scale projects valuing from $10-100M
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and lead a high functioning team
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Expert Estimating software experience - Primavera C P6 and MS Project
