Interpretation of blueprints and welding symbols;
Workshop fabrications for surface and underground environments;
Setting up of underground conveyor structures and maintenance thereof,
Fabrication and installation of underground ore grizzles and frame structures,
Repair of underground drill rigs, Utility Vehicles (UVs) and LHDs,
Fabrication and installation of underground workshop structures according to drawings,
Structural work - fabrication of light i.e angle sections to heavy steel I- beam sections including installation of base plates and end plates, cleats, purlins, drilling and punching holes and cutting according to requirements. Installing walk ways, staircase and handrails;
Fabrication and welding of girders;
Fabrication and installation of gates pole dancing, balustrades, handrails and screens
Assemble, erect and maintain boilers, tanks, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, pollution control systems, furnaces and condensers using hoisting, rigging, welding equipment, tools and hardware as required by drawings, specifications and the applicable codes and standards;
Rigging and fitting structures into position and scaffold erection;
Work preparation and setting before marking, cutting and welding;
Operation of overhead crane and mechanical lifting equipment.
Fabrication of pipes complete with flanges and installation/fitting in Plant;
Attending Plant breakdowns on the run and performing routine and non-routine task during shutdowns,
Working at heights, confined spaces and restricted work space and acquiring of work permits.
Use of workshop hand and power tools which include, rollers, guillotine, band saw, grinders, profile cutters, and press brakes amongst other tools;
Use of the following welding methods: MIG, FCAW, SAW and TIG in horizontal, vertical up and down, flat and overhead positions;
Welding aluminum, stainless steel and mild steel to smooth finishing;
Use of oxy-fuel, plasm cutter to cut sections up to 100mm thickness;
Fabrication of chutes, launders and pipeworks using Parallel line, Radial line and Triangulation development methods to produce these and other various related components;
Fabrication, repair/hardfacing and replacement of liners for mobile equipment, hoppers and chutes,
Installation, removal and repair of fabricated components;
Finishing products by cleaning, polishing, filing and bathing in acid solution;
Cleaning and smoothing welds by filing, chiselling and grinding;
Aligning parts to be joined using hand and measuring tools;
Shaping and bending metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools and by heating and hammering;
Working on shifts, backups, overtime and standbys as and necessary,
Department/Section Safety Health and Environmental Representative (SHE Rep),
Following Organization safety procedures and use of PPE,
Developing Organisational JSHE and SOPs,
Conducting Pre-task risk assessment for every task,
Maintenance of ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 50001 standards in all operations,
Training of apprentices and other subordinates to prepare for national examinations,
Calculating quantity of material required for the job before purchasing;
Visual inspection on weld beads for quality.
Finishing of work to meet customer satisfaction before dispatch;
Collaborating work with other disciplines to achieve desired targets,
Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team;
Performing any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
