As a Sous Chef, you will assist the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food production, and maintaining standards in line with health and safety regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning and directing food preparation in the kitchen.
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of kitchen staff, ensuring efficient workflow.
- Ensure consistency in presentation and quality of dishes.
- Support the Head Chef in menu development, costing, and inventory management.
- Monitor food stock and place orders as needed.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive team environment.
- Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment, adhering to all health and safety standards.
Requirements:
- At least a Certificate IV in commercial cookery or above
- Minimum of 2 years of proven experience as a Sous Chef
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
- Knowledge of kitchen operations, including stock control, ordering, and food safety regulations.
- Certifications in Food Safety and Hygiene are preferred.
Applicants who need sponsorship must meet the following criteria, in addition to the previously mentioned requirements:
- A valid English language certificate is needed, with an overall IELTS score of at least 5.5 and no individual section scoring less than 5.0.
- Depending on where you are placed or your nationality, you may need to complete a skill assessment from either TRA or VETASSESS, the relevant Australian skill assessing authorities.
