The Position:
We are currently recruiting for Psychiatry Registrar positions to join the busy, dynamic team in 2025. Positions available to commence ASAP through to the end of the year.
Rotations include Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Forensic psychiatry, Consultation Liaison Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry, Old Age, Perinatal, Community, Rehabilitation, Medical Administration and Private Psychiatry.
The Facility:
The hospital provides general and specialty medical and surgical services and is the State referral centre for cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, burns, hyperbaric and diving medicine, neonatal intensive care and high risk obstetrics.
- Supports around 250,000 Tasmanians in the southern region and is the major clinical teaching and research site for the University of Tasmania and other institutions.
Duties:
- Admission and care of patients and liaison with Specialist Medical Staff regarding patients.
- Review patients referred to Mental Health Services by the Emergency Department
- Attend Specialist ward rounds and record all decisions made in the medical history.
- Timely response to calls by members of the patient’s care team.
- The position will require the candidate to participate in after-hours work
- The position will require the candidate to participate in an on-call roster

Requirements:
- Medical Degree (MBBS or Similar)
- General, Provisional or limited registration with AHPRA or eligible to obtain
- IMG’s eligible via the Competent Authority Pathway (training in the UK, USA, NZ, Canada or Ireland)
- IMG’s interested in being assessed by RACP College as partially or substantially comparable
