- Position: Jr. Sous Chef
- About the Role:
As a Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in the kitchen team, working closely with the Head Chef to ensure the highest standards of food quality and presentation. You will be responsible for overseeing daily kitchen operations, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to menu development.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Chef in managing all aspects of the kitchen, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.
- Supervise and train kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Collaborate with the Head Chef in creating and updating menus that reflect seasonal ingredients and current culinary trends.
- Ensure consistency and excellence in the quality and presentation of all dishes.
- Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and manage food costs to maintain budgetary goals.
Requirements:
- Complete a Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 2 years experience as a Jr. Sous Chef
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to supervise, train, and motivate kitchen staff.
- Good communication skills to effectively coordinate with kitchen and front-of-house staff.
Applicants who need sponsorship must meet the following criteria, in addition to the previously mentioned requirements:
- Possession of a valid English language certificate is mandatory, with a minimum overall score of 5.5 and no individual component scoring below 5.0 in the IELTS test
- Successful completion of a Skill Assessment from the appropriate Australian skill assessing authorities (TRA or VETASSESS) may be necessary, contingent on your passport or the location of your placement.
