This position is based at the Royal Hobart Hospital, with regular travel to the North and North West of the state expected. Overnight travel and some out of hours work will be required. Interstate travel may be required

The Tasmanian Clinical Genetics Service (TCGS) is a multidisciplinary team including clinical geneticists, genetic counsellors, research staff and allied health and administrative support staff. Together, the TCGS team delivers a Statewide service based at the RHH which manages general and cancer genetics referrals for paediatric, adult and prenatal cases. Clinicians at TCGS see people across Tasmania by telehealth and in person in Hobart and in outreach clinics to the North and North West of the State.
The Role
Provide consultant services in Clinical Genetics Statewide.
Contribute to strategic planning and policy development for genetic services in Tasmania
Contribute to clinical research in the field of clinical genetics.
Duties:
Conduct regular Genetics clinics in the South, North and North West of Tasmania, consulting across the full spectrum of genetic conditions.
Provide specialist advice in clinical genetics and genomics to medical practitioners and other health professionals as needed.
Supervise the work of medical and allied health staff of the Tasmanian Clinical Genetics Service.
Provide advice to the Tasmanian Health Service as needed on issues pertaining to the delivery of genetic services and the incorporation of genomic medicine into mainstream healthcare services.
Facilitate, conduct and publish research related to clinical genetics at both the Tasmanian Health Service and the University of Tasmania. Participate in the teaching activities of the THS and the University of Tasmania.
Actively participate in and contribute to the organisation’s Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including in the development and implementation of safety systems, improvement initiatives, safeguarding practices for vulnerable people, and related training.
