About the role

We are seeking a talented and experienced Head Chef to lead our kitchen team at The Golden Spoon Indian Restaurant in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. As Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all culinary operations, ensuring the highest standards of food quality and presentation. This is a full-time role offering competitive remuneration and the opportunity to showcase your expertise in Indian cuisine.

What you'll be doing

1. Manage and lead a team of skilled chefs and kitchen staff
2. Develop and refine innovative menu items, balancing traditional Indian flavors with modern culinary techniques
3. Ensure consistent food quality, presentation and prompt service
4. Monitor food costs and inventory, optimizing efficiency and profitability
5. Collaborate with the management team to devise strategies for enhancing the dining experience
6. Maintain a clean, organized and safe kitchen environment
7. Train and mentor junior kitchen staff to develop their skills

What we're looking for

• Minimum 5 years' experience as a Head Chef or in a similar senior culinary role, preferably in the Indian restaurant industry
• Proven expertise in Indian cuisine, with a deep understanding of spices, flavour profiles and traditional cooking methods
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop kitchen staff
• Excellent time management and multitasking abilities to coordinate kitchen operations
• Passion for using high-quality, fresh ingredients and creating visually appealing dishes
• Familiarity with food safety regulations and kitchen management best practices
• Flexible and adaptable to accommodate changes in menu, staffing or customer demand.
