ABOUT THE STUDIO

ROLE OVERVIEW
We're seeking a Lighting Artist with experience in Houdini, Solaris, and Arnold to join the team. Depending on your level, you'll either be based on-site in Brisbane (junior-mid level) or can work from Sydney (senior). The role requires someone who is not just a lighter but also a problem solver, capable of working with shaders, tackling technical challenges, and contributing to look development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Light and render CG assets, environments, and sequences in Houdini/Solaris with Arnold.
Ensure lighting integrates seamlessly with shaders, lookdev, and final compositing.
Collaborate with supervisors, compositors, and fellow artists to achieve the creative vision.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, optimising lighting/rendering workflows.
Contribute to shader adjustments and look development when required.
Deliver high-quality renders on time and to production standards.
REQUIREMENTS
Proven experience as a Lighting Artist in a VFX studio environment.
Proficiency with Houdini, Solaris, and Arnold.
Strong understanding of cinematic lighting, shading, and rendering.
Problem-solving mindset with the ability to take on both artistic and technical challenges.
Comfortable working independently and within a collaborative team.
Location flexibility:
Junior-mid level candidates must be based in Brisbane or open to relocating
Senior candidates may be based in Sydney or open to relocating
Australian work rights preferred.
Subclass 408 (Temporary Activity) visa sponsorship available for experienced senior artists already in Australia who meet eligibility requirements.
BONUS SKILLS
Experience with shader creation and optimisation.
Knowledge of Python or tool-building for lighting/lookdev workflows.
Previous experience on large-scale film or episodic projects.
