This is a leading technical role in the detailed design, development and build of Direct Air Capture (DAC) prototype, incorporating design-for-scalability, manufacturability and cost reduction from the outset. This is highly hands-on and suited to an experienced engineer who enjoys working at the interface of R&D, manufacturing, suppliers and project delivery.
Responsibilities
Leading the detailed mechanical design, development and build of DAC prototypes and scaled modules
Driving manufacturing scale-up, Design-for-Manufacture and Design-for-Assembly (DfM/DfA)
Managing First-of-a-Kind component development and transition to repeatable manufacturing
Overseeing prototype construction, commissioning and testing, analysing performance data and refining designs
Supporting project delivery across design, construction, commissioning and testing stages
Engaging with suppliers, contractors locally and offshore to meet safety, performance and quality standards
Preparing and reviewing technical documentation, design reports and test results
Contributing to the development of engineering processes, systems, compliance frameworks
Knowledge and experience
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline with 8+ years’ relevant experience
Strong experience in mechanical design and development within industrial, R&D or manufacturing environments
Proven experience with product development, manufacturing scale-up and supply chain engagement
Exposure to automotive, refrigeration/HVAC, hydraulics, finite element analysis (FEA) is advantageous
Experience with EPC-style delivery, contractors and suppliers (local and offshore)
Understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements in industrial settings
Experience with Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfM/DfA) highly regarded
Self-starter with strong autonomous working capability
