The School of Allied Health, Sport and Social Work is known for innovation and excellence in health education, research and clinical practice. We offer a range of health-focussed educational programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels at the Gold Coast, Nathan and Logan campuses. The Allied Health disciplines represented in the School are Nutrition and Dietetics, Physiotherapy, Exercise Science, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Human Services and Social Work. Each discipline comprises a diverse academic staff profile with strong and productive programs of teaching and research, and a focus on developing capable and work-ready graduates. The School has a strong research focus, with academic staff from diverse disciplinary backgrounds skilled in areas including domestic and family violence, child protection and well-being, mental health and disability, environmental justice, international and community practice, and related fields.
Job Description
The School of Allied Health, Sport and Social Work are seeking to appoint an outstanding Academic in Social Work, eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, to lead its dynamic Social Work Discipline. You will be expected to mentor and lead a team of Social Work and Human Service academics in conducting high quality research, delivering quality teaching, innovating field education and international engagement, and providing service to the Social Work profession and the broader community.
Your strategic leadership will strengthen and grow our areas of research excellence, including domestic and family violence, child and family, forensic mental health, palliative care, and technology supported social work interventions (climate and poverty) as well as new and emerging areas. Successful collaboration with major research centres and institutes - including the Disrupting Violence and Inclusive Futures Beacons, the Centre for Mental Health Research and Griffith Criminology Institute will be expected. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with accreditation standards is maintained for all social work and human service programs and field education, and will represent the University on high-level bodies including the Australian Council of Heads of Social Work Education.
About you
You are a passionate and successful academic in the field of Social Work. You will have an international track record in fundable research, publishing in high quality outlets and successfully supervising higher degree research students to timely completion. You will have significant experience in developing quality social work curricula and in leading teams to excellence in learning and teaching delivery. You will be ready to make a strong contribution to the School, University and wider community through experience in governance and professional service.

What we can offer
This is a full-time, continuing position based at Griffith University at either the Logan or Gold Coast campuses. In-person attendance on-campus is a requirement of the role.
The full-time base salary for a Professor (level E) is $215,130 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package is $251,702 per annum.
