Details of the role
The Research Fellow (Health Economist) will work in partnership with economists, epidemiologists mathematical modellers, and social scientists to evaluate public health interventions targeting infectious diseases. A major focus of this work will be neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), affecting countries in Africa and the Pacific. In particular, they will be responsible for conducting cost-effectiveness and budget impact assessments alongside trials and programmatic implementation of mass drug administration regimens including moxidectin aiming to control/eliminate several NTDs (e.g. onchocerciasis and lymphatic filariasis).
They will also be responsible for evaluating different financing mechanisms for sustainable investment in NTDs. This research is predominantly supported through a new Synergy grant from the National Health and Medical Research Council. The successful applicant will work closely with members of the Health Economics and Health Systems Research and Neglected Tropical Diseases Groups at the Kirby Institute as well as key partners in the countries where these groups are working.
The role of Research Fellow (Health Economist) reports to the head of the Health Economics and Health Systems Research Group. This role has no direct reports.
