Drawing on your learnings from a successful career in Materials Handling engineering design solutions, you will be self-motivated to oversee and achieve innovative solutions to complex design challenges, stepping in to a project leadership role, providing excellent support to the Engineering Manager, managing, and validating the design review specifications for new hydraulic hay processing equipment.

The successful candidate can be based in either China (Shanghai) or Australia (Adelaide), as our client will support Australian visa sponsorship for single and family status as well as relocation costs to Australia once successful.

About the role
Key Responsibilities:

• Review and validate detailed manufacturing design specifications for new hydraulic hay processing equipment
• Evaluate technical suitability and feasibility of proposed designs, ensuring alignment with automation and production goals, and safety standards
• Identify and implement automation-driven improvements to optimise equipment design, reduce, or eliminate manual handling, and improve production efficiency
• Recommend design modifications to enhance reliability, maintainability, and operational efficiency
• Assess design specifications of control systems, including PLCs, sensors, and actuators
• Assess testing results to ensure manufacturing throughputs and finished goods meet specifications
• Participate in equipment installation, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure performance targets are met
• Document technical evaluations, design changes, and process improvements in line with quality and compliance standards

Existing machinery

• Identify technical innovation, improvement and automation opportunities in existing plant and equipment to maximise reliability and production efficiency and minimise manual handling
• Work with Manager Engineer to identify and acquire plant and parts at lower cost (without sacrifice to quality)
• Project manage technology innovation projects for mechanical improvements
• Work with Manager Business Systems & Technology Innovation to identify technology driven improvements and/or automation using AI or other available technology

About You

Must be a detail-oriented project design engineer with a strong background in bulk material handling.
Your qualifications and experience include:

• Bi-lingual in Mandarin and English (preferred)
• Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
• Post graduate qualifications (Highly desirable)
• Demonstrated experience in manufacturing engineering or industrial automation, preferably in heavy machinery, hydraulics, or agricultural equipment
• Strong understanding of hydraulic systems, automation technologies, and production line integration
• Proficiency in industrial control systems
• Demonstrated ability to optimise mechanical designs through automation concepts and lean manufacturing principles
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Familiarity with Australian manufacturing and safety regulations highly desirable
• Hands-on experience in a production environment with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation
• Excellent understanding and experience in software platforms
• Excellent relationship building skills with internal and external stakeholders
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and leading diverse teams
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities to facilitate project collaboration.
