We are partnering with a rapidly scaling global streaming platform that is investing heavily in next-generation ad-tech and video delivery capabilities. As part of this growth, we are hiring a Senior or Staff Software Engineer with deep expertise in video streaming, VOD pipelines, and Server-Side Ad Insertion (SSAI) to lead the build-out of a brand-new internal video ads architecture.

This is a foundational hire — you will design, build, and influence the end-to-end streaming ad platform used worldwide.

Salary & Levels

Staff Engineer — up to $250-300,000 + super + bonus
Senior Engineer — up to $200-230,000 + super + bonus

What You’ll Be Working On

• Architecting and building core video streaming and VOD systems
• Implementing Server-Side Ad Insertion (SSAI) at global scale
• Migrating streaming ad services from third-party hosting into a centralised in-house capability
• Optimising encoding, delivery, latency, resiliency, and playback experience
• Working closely with product, ads, platform, and cloud engineering teams
• Influencing long-term architecture and platform direction in a fast-growing tech business

What We’re Looking For

Must Have

• Strong experience with Video on Demand (VOD) platforms
• Hands-on experience with Server-Side Ad Insertion (SSAI)
• Expertise in streaming workflows, encoding, packaging, and delivery
• Familiarity with HLS/DASH, CDN integration, ad stitching, manifest manipulation
• Strong engineering fundamentals across backend services
• Cloud experience (AWS preferred)

Nice to Have

• Experience in large-scale consumer platforms
• Ad tech exposure (ad delivery, ad insertion, ad measurement)
• Previous ownership of greenfield or rebuild streaming systems
