The Royal Hobart Hospital and Department of Health is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for a Staff Specialist - Rehabilitation vacancy (to cover an extended leave) commencing as soon as possible until 26 June 2026.
As a Rehabilitation Specialist Consultant, participate in all aspects of the medical care of rehabilitation patients/clients across a range of settings, including acute inpatient, in-reach, ambulatory and community rehabilitation services. The occupant will also be involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, be actively involved in research and undertake quality improvement activities.

As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH collaborates with the University of Tasmania and other institutions. All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.
The Rehabilitation department provides consulting, In-reach rehabilitation, inpatient rehabilitation, and outpatient clinic service to southern Tasmania. Consulting and In-Reach rehabilitation is at RHH. Inpatient sub acute care with 18 beds ward is at the Repatriation Centre. There is also contracted Rehabilitation beds of up to 12 beds at the St Johns, Calvary hospital in South Hobart. Case mix include patients with stroke, neurological conditions, post orthopaedics surgeries, brain injuries, spinal injuries, limb amputations and medical conditions. The outpatient clinics at Statton Clinic, Repatriation site run twice a week. These are general rehabilitation, brain injury, amputee, spasticity, spinal and transition clinics. Botulinum toxin injections are done thrice a week at the Ambulatory Care Clinic, RHH. Currently there are 7 part time Rehabilitation Physicians and 4 Registrars in accredited Rehabilitation training positions.

SalaryMedical Practitioners (Public Sector) AwardA remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority.Base salary points range for Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 at $216,300 through to Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 11 at $296,640 with further salary increments available.
