The Staff Specialist - Medical Oncologist will:

• Provide a senior role in Medical Oncology and related services at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH).
• Provide outpatient care to the patients of RHH in all aspects of Medical Oncology.
• Increase the RHH clinical services in Medical Oncology as required by the Head of Department.

The Role

1. Patient Care:

• Provide Consultant Service to inpatients.
• Conduct or direct outpatient clinics if needed in all aspects of Medical Oncology.
• Participate in quality assurance programs for the Medical Oncology Department.

2. Teaching:

• Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate specialist trainee teaching.
• Liaise with the University of Tasmania’s Department of Medicine in respect to the teaching of undergraduates and Registrars.

3. Research:

• Maintain an active involvement in research.

4. Management:

• Responsible to the Head of Unit (Medical Oncology).
• Liaison with the University of Tasmania’s Department of Medicine on issues relating to undergraduate teaching and research.

5. Actively participate in and contribute to the organisation’s Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including in the development and implementation of safety systems, improvement initiatives, safeguarding practices for vulnerable people, and related training.
