At Connecting Families, we are dedicated to providing high-quality support and services to NDIS participants. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a key role in helping individuals overcome limitations caused by injury, illness, psychological or emotional difficulties, developmental delays, or the effects of aging. Your focus will be on assisting participants in transitioning from dependence to independence while maximizing their productivity, well-being, and quality of life.
The Occupational Therapist will work within a participant-focused framework, promoting choices, rights, and decisions in all practices. You will be expected to support participants' voices, report areas of concern, and apply the Child Safe Standards when working with children and young people.
Key Responsibilities:
Review and implement participant support plans
Assist with activities of daily living (e.g., showering, dressing, grooming)
Support community participation, including home maintenance, budgeting, shopping, and mobility
Promote education and social participation, helping participants engage with learning and social environments
Recommend and assess assistive technology and environmental modifications
Ensure compliance with legal and certification requirements
Foster clear, inclusive, and respectful communication with participants and team members
Build trust-based relationships, prioritizing participant voice and safety
Respond to changing participant needs flexibly and with care
Participate in the continuous review and improvement of services and participant outcomes
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) or Bachelor/Master of Occupational Therapy
Current Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registration
Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures impacting disability services
Current Worker Screening
NDIS Induction Module completion
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably with NDIS participants
Experience in writing assessments and progress reports

Empathy, crisis management, and conflict resolution skills
Proficiency in assessing and managing participant needs and goals
A commitment to safety and adherence to infection prevention and control measures
Knowledge of the NDIS principles and processes, including participant plan access and review
Ability to manage work stress and maintain personal wellness
