Position Details

You're Needed in Gippsland - Advanced Child Protection Practitioner (CPP4) roles

You'll be part of a team where you'll have opportunities to learn, grow and make a positive difference.

As an advanced child protection practitioner, you will receive and assess reports of alleged abuse and neglect of children and young people. Conduct investigations and develop plans to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children and young people. This may include taking matters to court. You will often be dealing with more complex cases and will operate with an increased level of autonomy appropriate for the role.

DFFH welcomes applications from suitably qualified temporary visa holders. Successful candidates may be eligible for employer sponsorship under SID482 visa.

New starters in Outer Gippsland Area

We've created a program to support you in your new role. The New Starter Employee Support and Training program runs for 12 months. It offers tailored support to help you build your skills and confidence in the role.

You'll learn:

• how we work
• what the local priorities are, and how your work will contribute to these priorities
• about the local child protection service system. This includes learning who the key funded agencies are, and what services they offer.

Key responsibilities:

• Conducting risk assessments and investigations
• Managing complex cases, problem solving and presenting matters to the Children's Court of Victoria as required
• Being responsible for supporting and developing Beginning Child Protection Practitioners in the integration of theory and practice while demonstrating your expertise through case practice
• Determining case plans (including stability plans, cultural plans and therapeutic treatment plans) for the safety and wellbeing of children
• Delivering case practice and case management services for children and young people who are either living with family or placed in out of home care.

Skills and experience required

• Preferred candidates will have a social work, welfare, psychology related qualification and/or relevant experience
• Ideally, you will have a minimum of two years' case work or similar relevant experience in child and family social work
• A valid driver's license (learner's permit not acceptable)
• A current working with children's check card
