We are a Sri Lankan restaurant located in Southport on the Gold Coast, seeking an experienced and motivated Full-Time Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team who currently lives in Gold Coast region or surrounding areas.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about food, works well in a fast-paced kitchen environment, and takes pride in maintaining high standards of quality, consistency, and presentation.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality dishes in accordance with restaurant standards.
• Assisting with menu planning and development.
• Managing stock levels, inventory, and ordering kitchen supplies.
• Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in accordance with Australian regulations.
• Supervising, supporting, and training kitchen staff to ensure consistency in food preparation and service.
• Monitoring portion control and minimising food wastage.
• Ensuring efficient kitchen operations during busy service periods.
• Working collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house teams.

Applicant Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants should:

• Hold a relevant formal qualification in Commercial Cookery (Certificate III or higher).
• Have at least 1 year of relevant full-time work experience in a commercial kitchen, in addition to formal qualifications.
• Have a strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and WHS requirements.
• Demonstrate excellent teamwork, communication, organisation, and time-management skills.
• Be reliable, professional, and capable of working effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Be available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
• Be committed to maintaining consistently high standards of food quality and kitchen operations.

Experience in Sri Lankan cuisine is highly regarded; however, applicants from other culinary backgrounds who are willing to learn and develop their knowledge of authentic Sri Lankan cuisine are also encouraged to apply.

Visa sponsorship may be available for the right candidate who meets our employment requirements and satisfies the relevant Australian visa, skills, experience, and eligibility requirements.

Sponsorship will be considered based on the candidate's qualifications, relevant experience, skills, performance, suitability for the position, and ability to meet applicable immigration requirements.

Remuneration

This is a full-time position with a base salary of $60,000–$65,000 per annum, plus superannuation, depending on qualifications, skills, and experience.
