Cherratta Lodge is seeking an experienced and suitably qualified Chef to join our remote accommodation village in Karratha, Western Australia. This position is offered on a full‑time basis and requires a high‑performing hospitality professional who can consistently deliver quality meals in a high‑volume, camp‑style catering environment, while maintaining strict compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
As an Experienced Chef, your duties will include but are not limited to:
Preparing and presenting high‑quality meals across all services including:
Breakfast (hot and cold sections)
Dinner service
Cold larder, salads, desserts, and pastry
Crib meals and function catering as required
Delivering consistent food quality in a high‑volume and buffet‑style operation
Ensuring all food preparation and service complies with HACCP, food safety, and hygiene standards
Working collaboratively with the Head Chef and Site Management to meet operational and client requirements
Assisting with menu execution, stock control, ordering, and inventory management
Maintaining clean, organised, and compliant kitchen and storage areas
Adhering to all company health, safety, security, and environmental procedures
Demonstrating flexibility to meet operational demands, including weekends and public holidays
Supporting a positive team culture in a fast‑paced, remote operational environment
Essential Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, applicants must demonstrate:
Minimum 2–3 years post‑qualification experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen
Proven experience across all hands‑on kitchen services:
Breakfast, dinner, salads, desserts, pastry, functions, and crib service
Strong experience in high‑volume and/or buffet‑style catering
Remote site or camp catering experience – essential
Solid knowledge of HACCP procedures, safe food handling, and workplace safety practices
Strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure
A genuine commitment to delivering high‑quality customer service
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
Flexibility, reliability, and a strong work ethic supported by referees
Qualifications & Compliance Requirements
Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent) – essential
Current Manual Driver’s Licence – essential
Current National Police Clearance – essential
Senior First Aid Certificate (including CPR) – desirable
