Experienced Sous Chef (1 Year Required) - Cronulla

Pippis Cronulla is a busy, high-volume restaurant located in the heart of Cronulla, offering a modern à la carte menu in a fast paced environment.

We are looking for an experienced, motivated and reliable Sous Chef to join our kitchen leadership team.

This is a hands on position suited to someone who enjoys a busy service, takes pride in their work and understands the importance of teamwork, consistency, cleanliness and organisation.

We are looking for someone who can work closely with our Head Chef, take ownership of kitchen operations and contribute to the continued development of our team and menus.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations and maintaining high standards across all sections.
• Lead and supervise the kitchen team during busy services, ensuring efficiency, consistency and quality.
• Work confidently across different sections, particularly grill and pasta.
• Assist with developing new dishes, seasonal menus and improving existing recipes.
• Train, mentor and support junior chefs, ensuring consistent cooking techniques, presentation and kitchen procedures.
• Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, food safety and kitchen organisation at all times.
• Oversee preparation, stock rotation, ordering and waste management.
• Ensure all sections are properly organised, stocked and ready before service.
• Maintain food quality and presentation, even during high-pressure services.
• Work closely with the Head Chef to improve kitchen efficiency, teamwork and overall performance.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Sous Chef in a busy a la carte restaurant.
• Strong experience working in high volume kitchens.
• Excellent cooking skills, particularly on grill and pasta sections.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• The ability to remain calm, organised and efficient under pressure.
• A genuine passion for cooking and contributing to menu development.
• Experience training and supervising kitchen staff.
• Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to cleanliness and organisation.
• A proactive attitude, taking initiative without needing constant supervision.
• Reliability, flexibility and willingness to support the team during busy periods.

Most importantly, we are looking for someone who leads by example, takes ownership of their responsibilities and maintains high standards even when the kitchen is under pressure.
