IPS Australia is the largest independent service provider for rotating equipment in Australia.
Our workshops are based in Somersby NSW, & Kwinana Beach WA, and our business is to maintain and provide spare parts for rotating equipment such as steam and gas turbines, pumps, compressors and blowers, gearboxes, as well as reciprocating compressors.
IPS Australia is currently looking for a qualified Field Service Engineer for our Kwinana Beach WA workshop.
The successful candidates will have 5+ years experience in rotating equipment and work on sites in Australia, New Zealand, PNG, Pacific Islands. Your main responsibilities will include:
· Carry out field service activities on rotating machinery from various manufacturers
· Strip, inspect, repair, rebuild, commission machinery, and produce high quality reports with recommendations, all with minimal support
· Supervise a team of mechanical fitters, trades assistants, machinists, riggers and capable of working autonomously.
· Support the operation of the service activities with technical expertise
· Assist the operation of the workshop as required including hands on activity during field service down time.
· Development of job and machine specific quality documentation (ITP’s, IRS, Work Procedures) for service activities in conjunction with IPS Service Managers.
· Provide technical customer support to clients
· Identify potential additional work for IPS while on site, and convey this information to IPS Business Development Managers.
· Assist sales activities for both workshop and field services in conjunction with IPS Business Development Managers, including customer visits.
· Develop detailed scope of works to assist in sales and contract execution.
· Provide on the job training for IPS service personnel
You will work mainly on:
· Steam and gas turbines
· Axial, centrifugal, multistage, integrally geared compressors and turbo-expanders
· High energy pumps (for example boiler feed pumps)
· Screw compressors
· Fans and blowers
· Industrial gearboxes
· Reciprocating compressors and valves
· All types of rotors
This is predominately a Field Service position. Ability to travel to field locations within Australia is required. The applicant will be able to work on his own or part of a team according to OHS& E standard. The Field Service Engineer is the Supervisor on site and manages the team as well as being the main point of contact for our client. This is a full time role - when the FSE is not in the field, they are working at one of our 2 workshop locations.
To be considered you will:
· Have a degree or a certificate IV in Mechanical Engineering
· Preferably an Australian Citizen or a Permanent Resident. Visa sponsorships are available for the right candidates.
· Have 5+ years hands on rotating equipment experience
· Be based in WA/NSW or willing to relocate to our workshop locations
· Have good communication skills – verbal and written
· Be a technical authority on at least any one type of rotating machinery that IPS works on (turbines, compressors, gearboxes, high energy pumps)
· Have experience in project management (favorable but not essential)
