Role Description
As a Junior Cook at Ahh Maa Meals, you will work closely with our culinary team to develop, test, and refine authentic Asian recipes for our meal kits. You'll help ensure every recipe is beginner-friendly, accurately portioned, and true to traditional flavours, while also assisting with ingredient prep and quality checks during kit assembly. Key Responsibilities
Assist in developing and testing new recipes for authenticity, taste, and ease of preparation
Simplify traditional cooking methods into clear, easy-to-follow steps for home cooks with no prior experience
Support ingredient sourcing and quality checks to ensure freshness and consistency
Help with portioning and packing ingredients for meal kits
Maintain accurate stock takes and ensure proper stock rotation (FIFO) to minimise waste and maintain ingredient freshness
Lead the packing team to ensure product quality, consistency, and accuracy across all meal kits
Collaborate with the culinary and product teams to accommodate dietary-friendly options (e.g. vegetarian, gluten-free, halal)
Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe prep space
Follow all health and food safety regulations
Provide feedback during recipe trials to improve clarity and customer experience
Qualifications
Cookery certificate (e.g. Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent) is a advantage
Genuine passion for and knowledge of authentic Asian cuisine (family recipes or cultural background a plus)
Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
Ability to break down complex recipes into simple, beginner-friendly instructions
Strong attention to detail, especially around portioning and consistency
Good communication and teamwork skills
Willingness to learn and take direction from senior culinary staff
Food Handler's Certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
Some leadership or supervisory experience preferred, given the responsibility of overseeing the packing team
