Mechanical Fitter – Fixed Plant MaintenanceBarossa Valley, SA | Full-time, Permanent | Visa Sponsorship Available for the Right Candidate
A long-established South Australian timber manufacturer is looking for a hands-on Mechanical Fitter to keep its production plant running. This is a fixed-plant maintenance role in a busy, single-site operation — no two days the same, plenty of variety, and real ownership of the plant you look after.
If you've maintained conveyors, hydraulics and production machinery in any heavy or processing environment — timber, food processing, wineries, quarries, recycling, manufacturing — and you can think on your feet during a breakdown, we want to hear from you.
What you'll be doing
Breakdown response and fault-finding across saws, conveyors, chippers and materials-handling equipment
Preventative and scheduled maintenance to keep production uptime high
Hydraulic and pneumatic system maintenance and repairs
General fabrication and welding — guards, chutes, wear parts and modifications
Working closely with production to plan and prioritise maintenance
What you'll bring
Mechanical trade qualification (Cert III Engineering – Mechanical) or strong hands-on maintenance experience as an all-rounder
Solid hydraulics, pneumatics and conveyor system experience
Confident with fault-finding and breakdowns in a production environment
Welding and fabrication ability
A reliable, proactive attitude and the ability to work autonomously
Sawmilling or timber experience is a bonus, not essential — we'll back the right operator from an adjacent industry
