Karrinyup St Luke Pharmacy is seeking a full-time (38 hrs/week) Provisional Pharmacist / Intern Pharmacist to join our compounding community pharmacy to align with the recent expansion of our compounding labs.
This role is suitable for a pharmacy graduate who holds, or is eligible to obtain, provisional registration with AHPRA. Prior hands-on experience in non-sterile complex compounding for at least 2 years is essential. The position is expected to commence in August 2026.
Key duties
Under the supervision of an approved preceptor / supervising pharmacist, your duties will include:
- Dispensing prescriptions accurately and safely
- Counselling patients on medicines and health products
- Supporting professional pharmacy services in a community pharmacy setting
- Preparing and checking non-sterile compounded medicines under supervision
- Compounding topical preparations, creams, ointments, gels and lotions
- Preparing capsules, powders and other oral dosage forms
- Preparing sublingual preparations where appropriate
- Preparing suspensions and oral liquids
- Preparing nasal sprays, ear drops and other non-sterile dosage forms
- Following formulation worksheets, formulation records and compounding procedures
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation
- Following quality, hygiene and safety procedures
- Liaising with pharmacists, prescribers and patients when required
About you
The ideal applicant will have:
- A pharmacy qualification suitable for the Australian pharmacist registration pathway
- Current AHPRA provisional registration, or eligibility to apply for provisional registration
- Prior experience in non-sterile compounding for at least 2 years is essential
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Ability to follow procedures and document work accurately
- Willingness to learn and develop compounding skills.
- For overseas qualified applicants, Completion or progression through the APC pathway, such as OPRA, CAOP, or other applicable assessment pathway is essential.
- For overseas qualified applicants, Previous pharmacist-level complex non-sterile compounding experience outside Australia or in Australia is essential.
Local pharmacy graduates are encouraged to apply; however, employer sponsorship may be considered for a suitable applicant, subject to their compounding experience, eligibility and business requirements.
The role is aligned with the Retail Pharmacist / Community Pharmacist pathway, ANZSCO 251513. The successful candidate will practice under approved supervision while completing the requirements for general registration.
The successful applicant is expected to commence in August 2026, subject to visa approval, AHPRA/provisional registration, and supervised practice approval.
