About the Role As a Sonographer you will perform and interpret diagnostic ultrasound examinations, produce technical worksheets for the reporting radiologist, and manage patient care throughout the scan. Caseload mix varies by site and can be tailored to your specialisation.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform diagnostic ultrasound across general, obstetric, gynaecological, vascular, small parts, and musculoskeletal studies
Optimise image acquisition and produce a preliminary technical worksheet for the reporting radiologist
Recognise and escalate urgent or unexpected findings promptly
Maintain equipment, complete quality assurance, and comply with infection control protocols
Explain procedures and manage patient comfort and dignity throughout the examination
Maintain accurate records in RIS and PACS
Supervise and mentor student sonographers where applicable
Participate in on-call and extended-hours rosters as required
To Qualify, You Must Have:
Postgraduate qualification in Medical Ultrasound (Graduate Diploma or Master) or equivalent
Minimum 2 years of post-qualification scanning experience
Eligibility for accreditation with the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR)
Competence in at least two of general, obstetric, vascular, or musculoskeletal ultrasound
Current registration or licence to practise in your home jurisdiction, in good standing English language proficiency meeting the relevant board and Department of Home Affairs requirements
Ability to provide passport, police clearances, employment references, academic transcripts, and professional registration evidence for the skills assessment and visa process
