The Royal Hobart Hospital and Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is seeking interest from suitably qualified and experienced applicants for a Staff Specialist - Orthopaedic Surgeon vacancy.

The Royal Hobart Hospital is a tertiary hospital in southern Tasmania, serving a population of 300,000. Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania's largest hospital and major referral centre. As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH collaborates with the University of Tasmania and other institutions.
The RHH Department of Orthopaedic Surgery offers services in the major Orthopaedic sub-specialty areas (with the exception of spinal surgery) and there would be regular opportunities for exposure to those areas of interest to the successful candidate. Depending upon the qualifications and interest of the incumbent, there may also be the opportunity to be involved with other teaching and research activities.
The Orthopaedic Department is staffed by
10 Orthopaedic Surgical Consultants, in a mix of Staff Specialist and Visiting Medical Practitioner roles.
Consultant staff areas of expertise which can accommodate Fellow exposure includes advanced upper limb surgery, lower limb arthroplasty including anterior approach hip arthroplasty, robotic assisted knee arthroplasty, ankle arthroplasty.
The Role
This role has been established to fulfil several targeted activities aimed to improve the delivery of timely surgical services to trauma patients and assist in the coordination and training of surgical Resident Medical Officers (RMOs) and Registrars. It is ideally suited to a surgeon who has recently been awarded Fellowship in Orthopaedic Surgery or will do so prior to the commencement of employment.

Salary
Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Award
A remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority.
Base salary points range for Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 at $216,300 through to Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 11 at $296,640 with further salary increments available.
