Join the Eastern and Greater Southern Surgical Skills Training Network - Prince of Wales Hospital (EGSSSTN - POWH)!
Our Unaccredited Trainees provide effective clinical management of surgical patients within the Eastern and Greater Southern Surgical Skills Training Network - Prince of Wales Hospital (EGSSSTN - POWH), under appropriate supervision in a complex clinical environment. This position is designed for junior doctors progressing towards entry into the Surgical Education and Training (SET) Program with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
As an Unaccredited Trainee, you may rotate across a diverse range of metropolitan and regional network sites, with a primary base at Prince of Wales Hospital. Possible rotations include:
General Surgery Nights/Relief, Prince of Wales Hospital and SET trainee relief as required within the POWH/Bankstown General Surgery Network
Cardiothoracic Surgery, POWH
General Surgery, Dubbo Base Hospital
General Surgery, Griffith Base Hospital
General Surgery, Bega - South East Regional Hospital
You will work as a key member of the multidisciplinary team, managing surgical patients and dealing with urgent or sensitive clinical matters with professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality. Clinical decision-making and supervision will be aligned with your level of experience, with increasing independence in patient management expected over time under the guidance of the supervising Attending Medical Officer (AMO). All patients remain under the care of a specialist, and all clinical decisions must be clearly communicated with the responsible consultant.
