Wara Sushi is a sushi train restaurant that started in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia in 2014.

Our mission is to combine fresh ingredients and creative recipes to bring new experiences to our customers. We currently have 22 outlets across Australia, with a large team of employees who work together to grow Wara Sushi.

We offer sponsorship opportunities for eligible candidates. Those who qualify will proceed with sponsorship after a performance check. We support SID(482), 491 and 494 visa options.

***Hiring process for full-time and part-time positions: Up to 2 weeks to 3 months of probation, followed by performance evaluation.

Salary:

· Salary range: $67k-$80k

Note: Superannuation of 12% is paid separately.

Casual Pay Rates:

Introductory Level (First 3 months):

• Weekdays: $32.18/hr

• Weekends: $38.61/hr

• Public Holidays: $64.35/hr

Level 1(Automatic increase after 3 months of employment):

• Weekdays: $33.05/hr

• Weekends: $39.66/hr

• Public Holidays: $66.10/hr

Note: Superannuation of 12% is paid separately.

Experience:

Japanese cuisine experience is not required, but Australian qualifications are preferred.

Minimum of 1+ years commercial kitchen experience is required. The required 1+ years commercial kitchen experience must include Asian cuisine experience.

• We are unable to hire candidates who require sponsorship visa support from outside Australia. Applicants must currently hold a visa that grants work rights within Australia.

Position Responsibilities by Role

Store Manager

• Oversee the overall operation and performance of the store.
• Manage daily store operations and supervise all staff.
• Monitor and maintain food quality, service standards and customer experience.
• Manage labour, rosters and staff performance.
• Monitor store sales, COGS, labour costs and wastage.
• Manage stock, inventory and ordering.
• Coordinate and follow up on maintenance and operational issues.
• Train, coach and develop staff and management team members.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, food safety, hygiene and workplace safety requirements.
• Identify operational issues and implement improvements to increase store performance.

Assistant Store Manager

• Support the Store Manager in overseeing the overall operation and performance of the store.
• Assist with managing daily store operations and supervising staff.
• Support the Store Manager in managing rosters, labour and staff performance.
• Monitor and maintain food quality, service standards and customer experience.
• Assist with staff training, coaching and development.
• Monitor stock levels, inventory, ordering and wastage.
• Assist with monitoring store sales, COGS and labour costs.
• Handle day-to-day operational issues and escalate significant issues to the Store Manager.
• Assist with maintenance coordination and follow up on operational issues.
• Ensure company policies, food safety, hygiene and workplace safety requirements are followed.
• Take responsibility for the store's daily operations in the absence of the Store Manager.

Chef

• Prepare and cook a wide range of food according to company recipes and standards.
• Manage and supervise kitchen operations and kitchen sections.
• Monitor food quality, portion control and presentation throughout service.
• Prepare sauces, vegetables, fish and other ingredients required for service.
• Maintain food safety, hygiene and kitchen safety standards.
• Monitor food usage, inventory and wastage.
• Manage deliveries and ensure correct stock rotation.
• Order ingredients and kitchen supplies when required.
• Communicate food quality and operational issues with management and floor staff.
• Train and support kitchen staff to maintain consistent food quality and standards.

Cook

• Prepare ingredients and food for service according to company standards.
• Cook and prepare food according to recipes and required portions.
• Maintain food quality, presentation and consistency.
• Maintain a clean, safe and hygienic kitchen.
• Assist with stock rotation, inventory and preparation of ingredients.
• Receive and store deliveries appropriately.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace safety requirements.
• Work collaboratively with the kitchen and floor teams.

Floor Manager

• Oversee daily floor operations and ensure smooth service.
• Manage staff schedules, sections and daily assignments.
• Supervise and support Floor staff during service.
• Monitor customer service and respond to customer complaints or concerns.
• Ensure tables, dining areas and service areas are clean and well maintained.
• Monitor sushi rail presentation, availability and replenishment during service.
• Monitor stock levels and coordinate restocking when required.
• Monitor sales and identify opportunities to improve store performance.
• Train, coach and support new and existing Floor staff.
• Communicate operational issues with the Store Manager and kitchen team.
• Ensure workplace safety and respond appropriately to emergencies.

Roll Maker

• Prepare ingredients required for sushi production.
• Make sushi rolls and other menu items according to company recipes and standards.
• Maintain consistent portion size, quality and presentation.
• Maintain a clean, safe and hygienic preparation area.
• Prepare and manage ingredients efficiently during service.
• Monitor ingredient levels and communicate shortages to the kitchen team.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace safety requirements.
• Work collaboratively with the kitchen and floor teams.

Wait Staff (Floor)

• Greet and seat customers in a friendly and professional manner.
• Take customer orders accurately and communicate them to the kitchen when required.
• Serve food and beverages efficiently and professionally.
• Monitor customers' needs and respond to requests or concerns.
• Clear and reset tables and maintain a clean and organised dining area.
• Monitor and maintain the presentation of the dining area and sushi rail.
• Assist with restocking plates, drinks and other service items.
• Process customer payments and handle EFTPOS or cash transactions when required.
• Follow customer service, food safety, hygiene and workplace safety standards.
• Work collaboratively with the Floor and Kitchen teams to ensure smooth service.
