Maintenance Fitter – Food Manufacturing | Bendigo

We are seeking experienced Maintenance Fitters to join a leading food manufacturing site located 10–15 minutes south-west of Bendigo. These full-time positions operate on a 7-on, 7-off rotating roster across days and nights, offering excellent work-life balance and strong earning potential.

Relocation support is available for candidates moving within Australia or New Zealand, including up to 3 weeks’ accommodation assistance. 482 visa sponsorships and sponsorship transfers are also available for suitable candidates already based in Australia. Candidates with previous food manufacturing experience, particularly within meat or poultry processing environments, will be highly regarded.

About the Role

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the Maintenance Fitters will be responsible for maintaining production and packaging equipment across several key processing areas. You'll play a vital role in minimising downtime, ensuring equipment reliability, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on processing and packaging machinery
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults across pneumatics, hydraulics, and gearboxes
• Respond to breakdowns promptly and carry out effective repairs
• Conduct equipment setup, calibration, and adjustments for production runs
• Complete fault finding and root cause analysis (RCA) to prevent reoccurrence
• Adhere to safety, hygiene, and compliance standards at all times
• Record maintenance activities in MEX (CMMS) and ensure accurate handovers
• Support and mentor apprentices and collaborate closely with electrical and production teams

About You

• Qualified Mechanical Fitter or similar trade background
• Previous experience in food manufacturing, FMCG, meat or poultry processing environments preferred
• Strong understanding of pneumatic, hydraulic, and gearbox systems
• Machining or welding skills beneficial (not essential)
• Able to work effectively in a high-paced, continuous production setting
• Heavy Diesel or HD Fitters with strong mechanical backgrounds are also encouraged to apply
